I know it has been asked a lot... but would the skin specialists out there answer an acne treatment Q please?

I have pretty average acne for a teenager, and have never really bothered much about it but i would like to start something. The most advertised products out there are proactive and clinique 3 step. I went to do some reasearch and was absolutly overwhelmed. There are so many websites and it is really impossible to tell how reliable they are, or even if they are run by a company!

So, dermatoligists or anyone who knows about skin, of the low-priced range, what is the safest for skin?

I%26#039;m more interested in long-term skin care than a treatment which will damage my skin in the long run but solve my acne now.

After safety, of course, I%26#039;d like to get the most effective.

I know this question has been asked many times, so i appreciate your answers! Basically, I would like to know which low-price-range treatments are safest, and then which are most effective.

Thankyou!!!

Sweet|||It%26#039;s different for everyone sadly, but here are a few of the products I think are staples in a good acne regimen:

Expensive - Obagi Clenziderm Step 1

Spot Treatment-

Mid-Effaclar K Acne Spot treatment Biomedic

Makeup that helps with acne

Jane Iredale - disappear is a concealer that has ingredients to help breakouts heal faster

Jane Iredale Balance Spray|||Well 1st all, people have different types of skin and all that. But Proactive did not work for me. Im using this stuff called Murad right now, it%26#039;s kinda working. I think it%26#039;s also cuz of my diet and lack of exercise, i%26#039;m so embarassed because of my acne and it sucks really bad. Hope you figure something out before it gets worse

How dangerous is it to ingest small amounts of a 2% salicylic acid compound from an acne treatment?

About 15 hours ago, I scrubbed my cheek above my mouth with a acne treatment pad that contains 2% salicylic acid solution. After a few moments, I noticed that some of the medicine had been dripping down around my mouth and lips, and I could even taste a little bit on my tongue. I made a conscious effort not to swallow any of it; I immediately spit it out, and rinsed my lips and the interior of my mouth out with water. Despite those measures, I can%26#039;t be certain that I didn%26#039;t swallow at least a small portion of it. I don%26#039;t feel particularly ill, but am worried about some sort of latency period with toxicity. Do I have a reason to be concerned?|||I seriuosly doutb it but if ur concerd ring the gp out of hours for advice there the only ones who can give u an definet answer.|||I%26#039;ve had severe acne myself, try looking for more information on any acne website, like this one for example:

I have had bad acne for many many years and trust me it was a real pain for me...i hated it terribly!

I have been on MANY products such as proactiv(which when you finsih using it brings out the pimples worst), neatrogena, clearasil, ambi and many more!

None of them worked for me beause when i finished using the proactiv which was a waste of my momey the pimples came back out soooooo much worst than it was in the beginning!

I went to my dermatologist last month and he introduced me to Roaccutane. I decided to use it, and i am NOT dissapointed at all with the excellent results that I have.

I have been using it for a month so far and within the first 2 days i had seen results..the pimples were disappearing(thats what we all want right?)

I am still using it because I have to complete my year.

The best part of it is that it is a tablet that you take. Its not a soap or a toner or a 4-5 step procedure that gets on your nerve..just one little tablet.

Its easy and stress free and best of all...Brings results!

You willl not be dissapointed if you try this product.

This product is only available through perscription by a dermatologist.

Use it and see for yourself!

This treatment last for about 7 years after you finish your course with it or longer.|||Acne can be caused by many different things, including sensitive skin. I have seen that pro-active work very well for some of my patients with sensitive skin.

Acne can also depend on age and changes in the body. If you are currently using any medications some of the side effects can be acne. I would suggest seeing a dermatoligist to get it looked at. Since acne can be part of a serious problem.|||I wish you well in whatever choice that you make. My son had acne and I do know the distress that it can bring. Not to be taken lightly.

I also agree that you should see a dermatologist. I suggest that as welll as clearpores, you do have a look at the exposed acne product.

Also ensure that you check your diet to ensure that you are eating plenty of vegetables and fruit and also a simple tip to implement is to drink plenty of water each day.

Good luck with your decision|||I found this awesome website and you can find more information, about your question,

What is a good acne solution treatment?

Bathing.|||Hi, there. Your skin is trying to tell you a few things. The acne may be your body%26#039;s way of getting rid of toxins, or may be the natural result of over-active sebaceous glands (the glands that produce oil in the skin). Here%26#039;s what I recommend: Use a natural soap containing with Tea Tree Oil and/or sulfur. (Healthfood stores carry several.) Wash your face 2-3 x/day with the Tea Tree Oil soap. Eucalyptus and Rosemary essential oils are also excellent for skin conditions such as yours. Look for products containing any of the above 3 essential oils plus the herbs comfrey, chamomile or calendula. All are very healing and soothing to the skin.

On a daily basis, open your pores by taking a steamy shower or by laying a very warm washcloth over your face. Then wash with the natural soap. Every other day, mix some salt into the suds of your facial soap, and then gently wash with that mixture to exfoliate and brighten your skin. To further cleanse and purify your skin and to tighten the pores, pat Witch Hazel over your face after washing it. Witch Hazel is a natural toner that will not over-dry your skin like some of the OTC products. Cleanse and tone your face 3 times per day if you can.

Drink as much water as you can, as it will help your body %26quot;flush%26quot; out the impurities that are causing break-outs. Avoid processed white sugar (or try to), as it harms your body%26#039;s ability to fight toxins that can cause acne. Eat many brightly colored fruits and veggies, and avoid hydrogenated fats at all costs. If you can, eliminate dairy products from your diet for two weeks. You may see a surprising difference. If not, slowly re-introduce them into your diet and see if any change occurs. You should also be taking 5000-10,000 IU Vitamin A, 400 IU Vitamin E, 500-1000 mg Vitamin C, up to 50 mg Zinc, a multi-vitamin and a B-complex vitamin on a daily basis. Each of these will strengthen your system and will provide nutrients that are essential for healing the skin and keeping it healthy.

On a weekly basis, whip up a blend of 1/2-1 c. natural yogurt (without sugars or flavorings) with 1/2 c. avocado. (Substitute papaya, applesauce (w/out sugar), or mashed banana for the avocado if desired). Blend this mixture and then spread over your face and allow to dry. When dry, gently blot off with warm water. This mask with gently cleanse and nourish your skin and will also provide the skin with natural Alpha-hydroxy acids that will help serve as a very gentle %26quot;peel%26quot;. Sorry to have rambled. I wish you the very best of luck!|||Proactiv, i don%26#039;t even get pimples anymore and I use to have them alot.|||Mary kay makeup actually has a great cream. If the acne is bad you may want to go see your doctor to get a retin A cream.|||It depends to the severity of the acne.

I have cystic acne, like 4-5 and it realy get worse if I don%26#039;t let my dermatologist to inject it to subside.

Does anyone know fast acne treatments that you can make at home?

Acne treatments...

such as toothpaste....

ect.|||First off don%26#039;t use toothpaste. Secondly visit acne.org. This site is AMAZING. It has an easy to do home regimen created by a guy named Dan Kern. Probably 99% of people who try this regimen (and do it properly) will find great results! This site also offers detailed descriptions of different kind of acne and suggest medications for tougher kinds of acne. It tells about acne myths, scar treatments, just about everything to do with acne. Check it out and I think you will agree! This link http://acne.org/regimen-instructions.html will direct you straight to the regimen.|||rub alchol on your face then put it in a humidifier then rub some warm oatmeal on your face|||toothpaste is a nono. just dont scrub your face, gently wash it with your fingers. dont pop them, it makes the bacteria that is in them spread and cause more. use a delicate soap on your face too. be careful what kind of lotions your applying cause that could make you break out more too. the best thing to do is morning and night, get a cotton ball and put some rubbing alcohol on it and rub it on your face, it will dry your face out, but it makes them dry up and go away!|||Try using ice on the %26#039;spot.%26#039;

Good luck hon.

This, too will pass.|||Sandpaper and a wire brush|||gently wash your face with a mild soap (ivory or dove) and warm water....then rinse with cold water .......wash your face every 2 hours...pat dry ...wipe with peroxide or alcohol ..then put hemorrhoid cream on your zits to shrink them....if you squeeze zits now you will have a big hole there when you are older.|||here%26#039;s a couple depends on your skin type and what you eat.acne is usually cause from your blood in alot of cases that i know of it%26#039;s from eating rich foods.

milk, egg, oatmeal mixed together boil it and apply to face as hot as you can stand it for 1/2 hour everyday. it%26#039;s great for some.

pure vinegar .......be careful not to get it in your eyes wash 3 or four times daily with it.

Is Ole Henriksen, Pola Kirei, or Obagi Skin Treatment Institute most effective with acne prone skin?

Have any of you been to all of these and noticed a difference in the efficiency of any particular spa for oily, acne prone skin (cysts, severe breakouts due to hormones %26amp; stress)? What about Sonya Dakar clinic or Kate Somerville?|||I%26#039;ve been using the obagi skin treatment for about 10 weeks now and it actually cleared up my skin i should have used it a long time ago if i only knew i could actually touch my face now.

What are the best acne treatments?

i get acne really easily and its really hard to get rid of. I also get it in the most embarassing places like my neck, my chest and back, and my upper arms. What is the best/ cheapest way to eliminate acne?|||Squash a banana all over your face, leave for 10 minutes, wash off. (Make sure you fill the cells from the inside, too by eating bananas and potatoes and other potassium rich foods.) Follow that with smearing honey to kill the germs that might be thriving in the pores along with your potassium deficiency. Wash that off after 5-10 mins. Think I%26#039;m kidding? Honey is where we get hydrogen peroxide from.|||pro active|||Apply slices of tomato on your skin; the pulp of the tomato has astringent properties, which can prevent acne. More home remedies available at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/acne.html|||Proactive worked for me!|||Try Proactive. I had bad acne like yours untill I started using it loyaly. You should use it both in the morning and at night if your acne is REALY bad like mine, otherwise it%26#039;ll only reduce your outbreaks instead of stoping them. If it%26#039;s not that bad then you might get away with just using it at night like a friend of mine.

However if your skin is red where you have acne (either where a zit is about to happen or has already gone) you might want to check out a dermatologist for some topical antibiotics, b/c your acne is probably getting infected.

If the dermy gives you oral antibiotics as well and IF you get sick from what the doctor gives you (a possible side effect of combining a few of these topical and oral antibiotics) like food poisoning stop taking it and see a physician asap. Then go back to the dermy and tell him your prob with the last prescription. The dermy should give you a new prescription that will probably not have such side effects. If you still get sick, you can either give up or just use proactive or some other topical non-antibiotic treatment.

So far for me Proactive has done pretty well.

Good Luck!|||Over the counter products containing benzoyl peroxide (?) can help. Proactiv that you see advertised on television is also very effective. If these products don%26#039;t work you probably need to see a dermatologist. If you have health insurance it will probably cover the majority of the cost and the medication prescribed. Severe acne can be treated with Accutane. A prescription medication for cystic acne. Also be sure and cleanse the areas well with an antibacterial soap at least twice a day.|||Proactiv Solution.

I swear by it. It%26#039;s the ONLY think I will use.|||acne wash called BENZAC it has the same %26quot;active ingredient%26quot; in it as Proactive %26quot;Benzoyl Peroxide%26quot;.. it cost approx $15... so its alot cheaper than Proactive.. and does the same job :)|||last year when my 15 year old was so broken out on his face his doctor prescribed some antibiotics that he took for 3 weeks. it worked it cleared his whole face up.|||proactive really works trust me|||I use a product called Oxy. It works really well and i have much less acne now!|||You can try any product containing salicylic acid, like clean and clear or neutrogena, even the store brands. What you need to do is follow a regimen. That means using it daily twice a day or as instructed in the product. Some of this product have a guarantee, just read the back for contents and guarantee. Good luck!|||Hi,

it%26#039;s important to inform yourself first before buying the wrong solution. Products like e.g. accutane or proactiv (and those pills doctors prescribe) are aggressive and can cause damages to you and your skin since they contain harmful ingredients.

Your best bet would be to check out

http://usefulresources.info/natural-acne鈥?/a>

It%26#039;s one of the very few guides out there which teaches how to really treat the acne problem at its roots from inside and out, no matter which kind of acne you have. Without damaging your skin, all natural.

I%26#039;ve literally wasted hundreds on other %26quot;miracles%26quot; but the tips and steps outlined in this one are highly efficient, bring results fast and that%26#039;s what only counts for me.

Hope that helps.

All the best,

Mike|||There is no one best product.

But the best way to truly eliminate acne is through your diet. Healing from the inside can help prevent skin blemishes or the outside symptoms that you see on your skin such as acne.

With this, it is drinking plenty of water, eating fruits and vegetables to flush out toxins. If you have severe acne, you may even want to do a juice fast for a few days.|||There is no best acne treatment, different things work better for different people. You could try Nature%26#039;s Cure Two-Part Body Acne Treatment. That might work for you, and its cheap.|||Im not sure how much it costs, but ProActiv is the best solution, it helps clear away acne, but you have to do it for a week or so to make all the acne go away, but still it works.
