So i left the toothpaste on overnight on 2 spots one is the size of a pea and one maybe the size of 2 water bottle caps.So in the morning i took a shower and when the toothpaste went away i noticed these harsh red spots the pimples turned dark black red and my skin is red and when i feel it, it feels hard and wrinkley. What do you think happened my mom is a doctor and said it is a chemical burn but she isnt a dermatologist so she isnt sure and how long will it take to get better|||Toothpaste dries the skin out...sometimes excessively. Many people also have reactions to the menthol and/or fluoride in the toothpaste.
If you can find toothpaste without menthol or fluoride, you will have less chance of a reaction. I wouldn%26#039;t leave it on my skin overnight. I think that%26#039;s too long. About 4 hours will probably be enough to strip all the oils from the skin under the toothpaste. You don%26#039;t need to use a lot. You definitely DID use too much. All you need to do is put a tiny bit of toothpaste on your finger and lightly touch the pimple/zit. That is enough.
The ingredients that dry out the zit are the same ingredients that people put on warts to make them fall off -- just in a smaller amount -- basically salicylic acid.
