Why have so many OTC acne treatments switched from benzoyl peroxide to salicylic acid?

Benzoyl peroxide is more effective. Is salicylic acid just cheaper? Does benzoyl peroxide work too well and they were losing money because people stopped buying the products as often?|||I would definitely have to agree with the allergic reaction scenario. If it gets on my skin I get huge red welts all over and they hurt. There are still many products out there with benzoyle peroxide and most OTC acne kits have both ingredients in them. But for those of us who can%26#039;t use BP it%26#039;s nice to have the option of salicylic acid.|||i think alot of people were having allergic reactions to it, my friend did..and it wasnt pretty
