I had bad acne when I was a preteen, now I still have some acne scarring on my back. Is there anyway I can lessen its appearance. Thanks!|||Pro-active|||O.K. There are a number of things you can do. You can go an have a series of peels done to lessen the appearance of the pitting. We often, at the medispa I work, do a process called subcision, where we numb the area that is pitted and insert a small needle under the area that is pitted and free the scar tissue that is creating the pitting. Then we do a process with a laser that stimulates the body to create more collagen in the problem areas. On the face we often inject small amounts of fillers into the areas that are pitted, bringing that area of skin level. Too much information?? Mild laser peels are good also especially if you repeat them but that%26#039;s more for the face.|||Skin isn%26#039;t dry because it lacks oil, but because it lacks water. Only a lucky few have %26#039;normal%26#039; skin; the rest of us have a dry, oily or combination variety; if dryness is your problem, read on. Symptoms most associated with Xeroderma (dry skin) are scaling, which is the visible peeling of the outer skin layer, itching and cracks in the skin.
Skin also receives less blood flow and lower gland activity. Skin also harbors many nerve endings that provide the sense of touch and heat. Skin is considered one of the most important parts of the body.
Epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. The epidermis contains no blood vessels, and cells in the deepest layers are nourished by diffusion from blood capillaries extending to the upper layers of the dermis. The epidermis can be further subdivided into the following strata (beginning with the outermost layer): corneum, lucidum (only in feet), granulosum, spinosum, and basale.
Environmental factors such as exposure to sun, wind, cold, chemicals, or cosmetics, or excessive bathing with harsh soaps, can cause dry skin. Dry skin could be due to a genetic condition. Certain drugs, including diuretics, antispasmodics, and antihistamines, can contribute to dry skin. Bathing or showering too frequently, especially if one is using harsh soaps, may also contribute to xeroderma.
Use a humidifier if the air is dry. Dry your skin gently and thoroughly, patting not rubbing. Use as little soap as possible limiting its use to armpits and genitals.
Good skin is often a reflection of a good digestive system. Put 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in your smoothies. Fatty acids are particularly important to people with dry skin. You want to work from the inside out too. For an easy fiber boost, mix in 2 tablespoons of ground up flaxseeds in raw applesauce, from 2-3 apples, made in your food processor.
Also use a thin layer of coconut oil under your make-up to moisturize your skin all day. It just takes motivation, a willingness to try it, and diligent application of coconut oil several times daily and at bedtime to see its benefits. Use bath oils and moisturizers, especially coconut oil, at least daily. Apply a thin layer of coconut oil and massage it deep into the skin.
Sunlight, water and air play an important role in keeping the skin healthy. Dry skin can be converted into healthy skin using natural home remedies. The skin is subject to constant attack from without, so can be affected by numerous conditions, diseases and ailments.
Make sure to call your dermatologist when you have any open cuts or sores from scratching that won%26#039;t heal. You should see the results with improved skin within a few days following this advice. If nothing seems to work it might be more than dry skin, so you should see the doctor.|||Read tips on reducing the appearance of Scars or Stretch marks and Home Remedies to help you more on this site
