I know it has been asked a lot... but would the skin specialists out there answer an acne treatment Q please?

I have pretty average acne for a teenager, and have never really bothered much about it but i would like to start something. The most advertised products out there are proactive and clinique 3 step. I went to do some reasearch and was absolutly overwhelmed. There are so many websites and it is really impossible to tell how reliable they are, or even if they are run by a company!

So, dermatoligists or anyone who knows about skin, of the low-priced range, what is the safest for skin?

I%26#039;m more interested in long-term skin care than a treatment which will damage my skin in the long run but solve my acne now.

After safety, of course, I%26#039;d like to get the most effective.

I know this question has been asked many times, so i appreciate your answers! Basically, I would like to know which low-price-range treatments are safest, and then which are most effective.

Thankyou!!!

Sweet|||It%26#039;s different for everyone sadly, but here are a few of the products I think are staples in a good acne regimen:

Cleansers:

Expensive - Obagi Clenziderm Step 1

Spot Treatment-

Mid-Effaclar K Acne Spot treatment Biomedic

Moisturizer

Effaclar Active Matte Biomedic

Jane Iredale Balance Spray|||Well 1st all, people have different types of skin and all that. But Proactive did not work for me. Im using this stuff called Murad right now, it%26#039;s kinda working. I think it%26#039;s also cuz of my diet and lack of exercise, i%26#039;m so embarassed because of my acne and it sucks really bad. Hope you figure something out before it gets worse

How dangerous is it to ingest small amounts of a 2% salicylic acid compound from an acne treatment?

About 15 hours ago, I scrubbed my cheek above my mouth with a acne treatment pad that contains 2% salicylic acid solution. After a few moments, I noticed that some of the medicine had been dripping down around my mouth and lips, and I could even taste a little bit on my tongue. I made a conscious effort not to swallow any of it; I immediately spit it out, and rinsed my lips and the interior of my mouth out with water. Despite those measures, I can%26#039;t be certain that I didn%26#039;t swallow at least a small portion of it. I don%26#039;t feel particularly ill, but am worried about some sort of latency period with toxicity. Do I have a reason to be concerned?|||I seriuosly doutb it but if ur concerd ring the gp out of hours for advice there the only ones who can give u an definet answer.|||I%26#039;ve had severe acne myself, try looking for more information on any acne website, like this one for example:

I have had bad acne for many many years and trust me it was a real pain for me...i hated it terribly!

I have been on MANY products such as proactiv(which when you finsih using it brings out the pimples worst), neatrogena, clearasil, ambi and many more!

None of them worked for me beause when i finished using the proactiv which was a waste of my momey the pimples came back out soooooo much worst than it was in the beginning!

I went to my dermatologist last month and he introduced me to Roaccutane. I decided to use it, and i am NOT dissapointed at all with the excellent results that I have.

I have been using it for a month so far and within the first 2 days i had seen results..the pimples were disappearing(thats what we all want right?)

I am still using it because I have to complete my year.

The best part of it is that it is a tablet that you take. Its not a soap or a toner or a 4-5 step procedure that gets on your nerve..just one little tablet.

Its easy and stress free and best of all...Brings results!

You willl not be dissapointed if you try this product.

This product is only available through perscription by a dermatologist.

Use it and see for yourself!

Acne can also depend on age and changes in the body. If you are currently using any medications some of the side effects can be acne. I would suggest seeing a dermatoligist to get it looked at. Since acne can be part of a serious problem.|||I wish you well in whatever choice that you make. My son had acne and I do know the distress that it can bring. Not to be taken lightly.

I also agree that you should see a dermatologist. I suggest that as welll as clearpores, you do have a look at the exposed acne product.

Also ensure that you check your diet to ensure that you are eating plenty of vegetables and fruit and also a simple tip to implement is to drink plenty of water each day.

What is a good acne solution treatment?

Bathing.|||Hi, there. Your skin is trying to tell you a few things. The acne may be your body%26#039;s way of getting rid of toxins, or may be the natural result of over-active sebaceous glands (the glands that produce oil in the skin). Here%26#039;s what I recommend: Use a natural soap containing with Tea Tree Oil and/or sulfur. (Healthfood stores carry several.) Wash your face 2-3 x/day with the Tea Tree Oil soap. Eucalyptus and Rosemary essential oils are also excellent for skin conditions such as yours. Look for products containing any of the above 3 essential oils plus the herbs comfrey, chamomile or calendula. All are very healing and soothing to the skin.

On a daily basis, open your pores by taking a steamy shower or by laying a very warm washcloth over your face. Then wash with the natural soap. Every other day, mix some salt into the suds of your facial soap, and then gently wash with that mixture to exfoliate and brighten your skin. To further cleanse and purify your skin and to tighten the pores, pat Witch Hazel over your face after washing it. Witch Hazel is a natural toner that will not over-dry your skin like some of the OTC products. Cleanse and tone your face 3 times per day if you can.

Drink as much water as you can, as it will help your body %26quot;flush%26quot; out the impurities that are causing break-outs. Avoid processed white sugar (or try to), as it harms your body%26#039;s ability to fight toxins that can cause acne. Eat many brightly colored fruits and veggies, and avoid hydrogenated fats at all costs. If you can, eliminate dairy products from your diet for two weeks. You may see a surprising difference. If not, slowly re-introduce them into your diet and see if any change occurs. You should also be taking 5000-10,000 IU Vitamin A, 400 IU Vitamin E, 500-1000 mg Vitamin C, up to 50 mg Zinc, a multi-vitamin and a B-complex vitamin on a daily basis. Each of these will strengthen your system and will provide nutrients that are essential for healing the skin and keeping it healthy.

On a weekly basis, whip up a blend of 1/2-1 c. natural yogurt (without sugars or flavorings) with 1/2 c. avocado. (Substitute papaya, applesauce (w/out sugar), or mashed banana for the avocado if desired). Blend this mixture and then spread over your face and allow to dry. When dry, gently blot off with warm water. This mask with gently cleanse and nourish your skin and will also provide the skin with natural Alpha-hydroxy acids that will help serve as a very gentle %26quot;peel%26quot;. Sorry to have rambled. I wish you the very best of luck!|||Proactiv, i don%26#039;t even get pimples anymore and I use to have them alot.|||Mary kay makeup actually has a great cream. You should use it both in the morning and at night if your acne is REALY bad like mine, otherwise it%26#039;ll only reduce your outbreaks instead of stoping them. If it%26#039;s not that bad then you might get away with just using it at night like a friend of mine.

However if your skin is red where you have acne (either where a zit is about to happen or has already gone) you might want to check out a dermatologist for some topical antibiotics, b/c your acne is probably getting infected.

If the dermy gives you oral antibiotics as well and IF you get sick from what the doctor gives you (a possible side effect of combining a few of these topical and oral antibiotics) like food poisoning stop taking it and see a physician asap. Then go back to the dermy and tell him your prob with the last prescription. The dermy should give you a new prescription that will probably not have such side effects. If you still get sick, you can either give up or just use proactive or some other topical non-antibiotic treatment.

So far for me Proactive has done pretty well.

Good Luck!|||Over the counter products containing benzoyl peroxide (?) can help. Proactiv that you see advertised on television is also very effective. If these products don%26#039;t work you probably need to see a dermatologist. If you have health insurance it will probably cover the majority of the cost and the medication prescribed. it%26#039;s important to inform yourself first before buying the wrong solution. Products like e.g. accutane or proactiv (and those pills doctors prescribe) are aggressive and can cause damages to you and your skin since they contain harmful ingredients.

But the best way to truly eliminate acne is through your diet. Healing from the inside can help prevent skin blemishes or the outside symptoms that you see on your skin such as acne.

Fraxel Laser Treatment for acne scars?

my dermatologist told me that my best option for minimizing the appearance of my acne scars is to have fraxel laser surgery. For 4 treatments, its going to cost me $3,600.

My derm is reputable (I see tv commercial about her clinics) and I%26#039;ve been seeing her for the past 3 years.

Should I be skeptical of this procedure? My research tells me that people has had good and bad experiences with fraxel treatments. What%26#039;s your thought?|||Well,to get rid of acne scars, the best procedure to take is a laser treatment which is what you%26#039;re planning to take right now.I would say that would be a very cheap treatment since it consists of 4 treatments and you should proceed if you want.Plus, this procedure is much faster and improve your skin complexion without any side effects. However,if you would like to opt for cheaper alternatives you could try these alternatives at home too(:

Baking Soda-Exfoliate your skin with baking soda. Often times, a version of baking soda is used in cosmetic microdermabrasion treatments. You can give yourself a mini microdermabrasion treatment by mixing one teaspoon of baking soda with the two teaspoons of filtered water. Then gently rub the mixture on your acne scar for sixty seconds then rinse it off.

Fresh Fruits-In addition to eating fresh fruits to supply your skin with collagen building vitamin C, you can also smear them onto your face for gentle acid exfoliation. Just puree a forth a cup of pineapple and smooth it onto your face. Leave it for 10-15 minutes, then rinse. Since the pineapple contains ascorbic acid, it will impart a brightening effect on the face, and help fade acne marks.

Apple And Honey-Using a blender, make a mixture out of 1 peeled apple with 1 tablespoon of yogurt, half a cucumber and 1 tablespoon of honey. Apply on face, leave for 20 minutes and wash off with warm water.

Olive Oil-Massage a pea-sized amount of olive oil onto your face.Acne scaring can cause the skin to lose its elasticity and suppleness. The moisturizing nutrients in the olive oil will penetrate the skin to deeply moisturize the skin and soften the skin鈥檚 texture.

Well, these are those 4 remedies that works best for your skin that impose no irritation to your skin.Good luck trying these at home and pick one that suits you.Hope this helps and great skin wishes.

Doxycycline for treatment of acne?

Has anyone else use this to treat their acne?Did it work?|||I am on my third course of Doxy for bad acne.

Of course over 6 months.

It worked wonderfully. It cleared up really well and quickly.

EDIT: It was a very low dose of Doxycycline that I was prescribed. You only need a low dose as it is a low grade infection on the face causing the acne.

EDIT: I had tried lot%26#039;s of things for my acne, including a very expensive facial peel treatment and cleansers. Nothing worked, except this.|||doxycycline is a very powerful antibiotic, usually used when you have a systemic infection. I have never heard of it being used as a treatment for acne but I would not contest with the decision. Basically it kills everything thing in its path, trust me it works, hope it works for your acne, but, even though I don%26#039;t contest because it won%26#039;t harm you, It wouldn%26#039;t be my first choice, so im guessing this has been a very ongoing thing, if not your doctor is wrong, good luck|||All the tetracyclines improve acne. I preferred to prescribe lymecycline or minocycline as their side effect profiles are better, but they all work.|||yeah it works great... unless you stop it, they come back.

i found that my acne went away after around two months of using the tablets, and stayed away when i kept taking them.

When most people think about acne and acne products they tend to think about teenagers hoping to be acne free for prom. While buying acne skin care products are a part of the teen years鈥?experience, for many people, acne and acne scars follow them beyond their teenage years into adulthood.

for more information visit

http://www.tehreer.com/category/acne/|||i do not reccomend using any antibiotics unless you absolutely need to. So if your acne is that severe go ahead, but also use alternative methods too, so you are not on them for a long time.

What are the best at home acne treatments?

i know some people say toothpaste...is there anything else?|||First, I understand where you%26#039;re coming from. I grew up with really bad acne, not only on my face but on my body as well. It was embarrassing and I tried everything including cleansers, creams, prescription medications, antibiotics, over the counter medications, and even shots from the dermatologist (ouch!) to get rid of it. I never did until many years later when it didn%26#039;t matter as much.

http://topsecretacnevolution.blogspot.co鈥?/a>

Here%26#039;s what I found out after lots of research and trial and error, the hard way.

It%26#039;s not a topical issue, it doesn%26#039;t help much to treat it from the outside, it%26#039;s an inside job. When you treat it from the outside it%26#039;s like treating the symptoms, not the cause. You%26#039;ll hear from many people that%26#039;s not the case, and it%26#039;s usually because they want you to buy their creams or lotions, and keep buying them month after month after month (or they haven%26#039;t experienced the truth). Of course, when you stop using it (as you%26#039;ve experienced) your blemishes come back... because you%26#039;re not treating the cause. And the costs for all of these routines/drugs add up month after month.

If you think about it logically, it makes sense. Why do we get rashes, breakouts, or other skin irritations? It%26#039;s usually because of something we ate, something that wasn%26#039;t meant to be put on our skin, something that caused us stress and our body reacts to all those things.

Bottom line is that most every cause of acne is related to what you eat, how you feel and how you take care of yourself. Your skin is a reflection of what%26#039;s on the inside. We have lots of toxins building up in our systems and they have to be cleaned out on the inside and that will reflect on the outside. The blemishes, rashes, acne, etc are indications that your body is reacting to what you%26#039;re eating, to stress, toxins, chemicals, hormones... literally a great number of things.

Basically what I did in a nutshell was clean out my system by taking out the processed and junk foods, and added as much fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet as possible. This part is key. I also started drinking a lot of water daily, starting with 3 or 4 glasses when I wake up (adding a squeeze of fresh lemon at times). I also got more active every day, walking, running, sports, jumping, whatever, just getting active. It not only gave me more energy, it help flush out the toxins that were clogging up my system.

Mixing in freshly ground orange peel can make it even more effective.Log on to http://tipsfromruby-acne.blogspot.com/ for a few home made tips to heal acne.|||Ok, heres a natural and cheap way of getting rid of your blackheads and deep cleaning:

*First cleanse your face until its squeaky clean

*Then tie your hair back so its off your face

*Get a basin of boiling hot water, and tilt your head over the basin and hold it there for as long as you feel is comfortable. The steam will open up your pores.

*Then just after (make sure your hands are really clean btw) get 2 cotton pad/tissue and gently but firmly press on the skin either side of the black head and ease it out. You must not push so hard that your damaging your skin, as this could lead to scaring if you repeatedly do it.

*Once you are done flash cold water on your face a few times to close up your pores, dont skip this step as its very important.

I also heard about of a few of these that may work:

*Baking soda mixed with Castile soap can be used as an antibacterial scrub.

*Honey can be applied as a mask and a topical remedy for acne.

What are some easy and fast acne treatments?!?

Help! I have acne and need to get rid of it before my dance in a week! Can you please help me!?|||Honestly...try proactiv (www.proactiv.com)...In my experience it was amazing (even though it%26#039;s not the cheapest thing out there)....you can start seeing results in about 2 weeks (for sooner they have a special cream, but is very expensive and should be used in conjunction with the treatment). Other than that, proactiv cleaned up my acne quite nicely- just stay on the regime, make sure you%26#039;re not allergic to it (there are some simple tests that can be done) and be patient...unfortunately no matter how much you want you%26#039;re acne to be gone....it will take some time (Also if you are not satisfied with proactiv, they offer a money back guarantee). I also suggest avoiding extremely oily foods an an excess of chocolate. Good luck with your acne...everything should work out fine;)

P.S. Whatever you do, don%26#039;t pop them! That will make them worse. Don%26#039;t touch them and leave them alone-try not to think about them. When you pop/agitate acne, you push the bacteria further down into the epidermis/skin, which can cause infection, and permanent scarring. If by accident you do pop acne (please try not to though), make sure to wash and disinfect it right away! This will prevent infection, but unfortunately wont stop the possibility of scarring.|||PROACTIV

Medical Treatment for Acne Scars?

I have just a few acne scars there, and though i can live with them, i would really like to get rid of them. Personally, whenever I break out and the acne starts going down, I moistutrize every night and then put on a thin layer of Vasaline which conditions the skin.

Even when I had a lot of break outs, I put vasaline on - because it treats cuts and infections (a pimple is really like a skin infection, so the vasaline makes the swelling go down). Just becarefull when you go to sleep that you dont get vasaline on your pillow...If you use it enough, your skin will stay conditioned and you won%26#039;t break out as much (if your skin tends to dry out, it over produces oil, so make sure you stay moisturized even while your treating breakouts.)|||I highly recommend an all-natural kit such as the Scar Treatment kit from ZenMed. What could happen to your baby if you have been using Proactiv Acne treatment?

I just found out through another question that using topical acne medicine is not safe for pregnancy. That%26#039;s somthing my doctor never mentioned! Morning:

1) Proactiv Deep Cleansing to wash face (using for 2 weeks)

2) Apply DUAC on (as prescribed by dermatologist-used for 3days)

3) Oil free moisturizer (was okay but now it stings when I apply)

1) Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash

2) Differlin

3) Moisturiser

So now I%26#039;m using wash my face and use dalacin in the morning and then at 6ish I shower and wash my face and apply dalacin (again, then wait at least 2 hours as instructed) before I rinse my face with water (not soap so it doesn%26#039;t dry my skin too much) then apply differin before bed. Can someone recommend a good acne treatment that doesn%26#039;t make your face all oily, but doesn%26#039;t completely dry it out either?

I%26#039;m using proactiv鈩?right now, but my face is all oily..

And something that works fast?

And not like SUPER EXPENSIVE?

heeelp D:|||My two favorite answers about acne made it to this question multiple times. 1.) Go to a dermatologist....because they know how to cure acne, anyone who goes to a derm has instantly cleared skin (sarcasm)

and 2.) wash your face. Greeaattt idea, let%26#039;s dry out and irritate their skin so it get%26#039;s oilier and causes more breakouts.

Really great advice, guys, thanks. Have you ever actually followed this advice and gotten results? Please.

Anyways, three things that you can do right now to help clear your face are to make a mask with baking soda, an aspirin mask, and then use a little honey after you%26#039;re done. Baking soda masks are great because they%26#039;ll exfoliate your skin and won%26#039;t irritate it. This exfoliation helps stop pimples because your face won%26#039;t have all the excess dead skin on it that helps form outbreaks. Just mix a little bit of baking soda with a tiny bit of water. The paste should be thick enough where it sticks pretty well to your face. Just apply the mask and then rinse it off.

An aspirin mask is just as simple to make. Just get some uncoated aspirin pills from your local pharmacy or supermarket. Crush up 2 or 3 into a powder and mix with a small amount of water. This paste should be a little thicker than the baking soda paste; you want it to stick to your face. This mask also exfoliates but the real benefit is from the aspirin itself. It%26#039;s basically the same thing as salicylic acid, which will help clear pores, clear dead skin as well as dry up any current breakouts you have. Leave this on for about 10-15 minutes and then just rinse off. I wouldn%26#039;t use both of these one right after the other in the beginning as it might be to harsh for your skin right away. Try doing one in the morning and one in the evening, or even use one per day until you see how they work with your skin. These are generally gentle enough that just about anyone can use them, however.

The last ingredient is honey. I would opt for raw, unprocessed honey but normal honey is OK. Simply put some honey on your face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. This is a wonderful moisturizer and on top of that, honey has some anti-bacterial properties which will help eliminate current breakouts. I strongly recommend you opt for raw honey as it has more beneficial properties. All together, everything should cost about $8-$10 and should last you a very long time.

The only problem with treating your acne externally like this is that it will just keep coming back as all acne, no matter how old you are, is a hormonal problem that starts inside of your body. The only way to treat and cure acne lies in dealing with the internal problems. Acne is 100% curable as long as you treat the internal problems and not the external symptoms.|||toothpaste works the best|||Acne is caused by hormonal disbalance which is perfectly normal in all teenagers and quite a few adults.

Therefore, hormonal therapy would be a useful thing to do.

But you can%26#039;t do that without a prescription from your physician.

So I would recommend:

1. Washing your face twice a day (with a face wash for sensitive skin).

2. Applying a small amount of make-up powder. That will help you hide the shine. But do make sure that you remove it as soon as you don%26#039;t need it, e.g. when you come home from work/college/school.

3. If that doesn%26#039;t help, ask your doctor for some antiobiotics. They will remove the acne, but I am not so sure about the oiliness.

Hope that helps :)|||If you%26#039;re prone to acne, no cream or pill is going to work in the long run.

If you really want to cure acne for good, you need to do it in a natural manner. Otherwise you could have acne into your adult years like thousands of other people do. (I just got rid of mine for good after 12 years)

If you check out my blog there are numerous ways you can get clear naturally.|||Go to the doctors they will prescribe you some|||Check out website below. It may solve your problem.|||Hi

From my experience If you really want to get rid of your acne there are two recommended ways that should combined together (if you can afford it) for best results.

Firstly and more important in my opinion, you must learn how you should fix the internal problem that%26#039;s causing your acne, not just masking the symptoms or getting relief.

There are only few decent Ebooks and acne cure programs that can teach you exactly how to treat your acne from the inside.

Where medicine has failed them the authors have done their own research and found a way to overcome acne. In their guides they share their valuable knowledge with other acne sufferers. Anyhow, be very careful because many of them are pure crap with little value.

Check this article for honest and useful review about the top systems today that can help you a lot:

The second thing that you need to do is to get good acne skin product that will be suitable for your skin.

There are hundreds of acne skin care products available in the market in these days and it%26#039;s not easy to choose the product that will give you the best results.

When choosing your product make sure to check that you get at least 2 months full guarantee. Some of the big names in the industry are:

ClearPores, Acuzine, Acnezine, Proactiv, Vilante and some others.

From my experience Clearpores cleansing system work very well. Check this website to learn a lot more about Clearpores and their solutions to different skin types:

http://clear-pore.info

I hope that these tips will be helpful for you|||First of all, toothpaste does not work to clear pimples. All it does is irritate the skin to the point of it drying out, which ultimately %26quot;clears%26quot; away your pimple. But then you have irritated skin in the end. Not so good in my book.

This is going to sound nuts, but you should try making a mask out of 2 parts water and 1 part yeast. It%26#039;s all natural, doesn%26#039;t irritate the skin, and won%26#039;t make it oily. You just leave it on, let it dry and cake, then scrub it off with a moist towel.

Depending on what type of skin you have, however, your treatment might differ. You could have really bad acne, or something mild. You really should book an appointment with a dermatologist so they can tell you what type of acne you have and how to target it.|||Hi,

Good skin care can keep acne under control and at a mild level.

Wash the skin twice a day using a mild soap, especially after exercise. Avoid scrubbing the skin. Hard scrubbing of the skin is harmful because it irritates the openings of the oil glands and can cause them to be more tightly closed.

Avoid putting any oily or greasy substances on the face. Oily and greasy substances make acne worse by blocking oil glands. If unavoidable, use water-based cover-up cosmetics, and wash them off at bedtime.

Shampoo the hair daily. Avoid hair tonics or hair creams especially greasy ones. These substances spread to the face and aggravate the acne.

Avoid picking blackheads as this delays healing. In general, it is better not to %26quot;pop%26quot; pimples.

Exercise regularly and keep fit.

Don%26#039;t stop the acne medicine too soon. It may take up to 8 weeks for a good response.|||going to the drs is your best bet thats what i did|||The Acnezine solution is a revolutionary acne skin care system formulated to treat acne from the inside-out. Acne and Exercise

%26lt;p%26gt;Moderate exercise is actually good for your skin. It helps you maintain a healthy body and manage your stress levels, too. If you find your acne is aggravated by regular exercise, then you may want to examine your routine. What do you wear? Where do you go? How hard do you work? Exercise-related acne is usually caused by something you put on your body rather something you do with it. Remove these outside factors, and you may put an end to your workout breakouts. Here are just a few things to watch for. %26lt;/p%26gt;%26lt;p%26gt;Acne %26amp; Exercise - Make-up. When exercising, wear as little make-up as possible. Even oil-free and non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging) cosmetics can clog pores if worn during heavy exercise. When you鈥檙e done working out, wash as soon as possible. %26lt;/p%26gt;%26lt;p%26gt;Acne %26amp; Exercise - Sunscreen. If your regimen takes you outdoors, always wear sunscreen. While acne may improve slightly after brief periods in the sun, studies show that prolonged exposure actually promotes comedones (clogged pores) and, of course, sun damage. Some kinds of acne medication make skin more sensitive to the sun, so sunscreen is even more important. When choosing a sunscreen, look for products that are oil-free and have a protection factor of at least SPF 15 for both UVA and UVB rays. Like make-up, sunscreen can travel across the skin鈥檚 surface and lodge in the pores 鈥?so wash immediately after working out. %26lt;/p%26gt;%26lt;p%26gt;Acne %26amp; Exercise - Clothing. If you鈥檙e prone to body acne, avoid garments made exclusively with lycra or nylon. Why? Some synthetic fabrics can trap the heat and moisture against your skin, creating a fertile breeding ground for the bacteria that contribute to acne. For moderate exercise, your best bet is lightweight, loose-fitting cotton, or a lycra-cotton blend. Natural fabrics allow the skin to breathe, and loose garments are less likely to cause friction. If you鈥檙e exercising vigorously and working up a good sweat, however, you may want to try some of the new fabrics designed to wick moisture away from your skin. %26lt;/p%26gt;%26lt;p%26gt;Acne %26amp; Exercise - Equipment. Some people are more likely to get acne or have their lesions aggravated in the areas affected by sports equipment. The best defense against friction-related breakouts is a good fit 鈥?make sure your helmet doesn鈥檛 slide around on your forehead, or your wetsuit isn鈥檛 too tight under the arms. You can also curb equipment-triggered breakouts by lining your helmet with a layer of soft, washable cotton fabric; it%26#039;s a great use for those old t-shirts, too. And no matter what the sport, it鈥檚 always a good idea to keep your equipment clean and dry when not in use. %26lt;/p%26gt;%26lt;p%26gt;Acne %26amp; Exercise - Moisture. Mom was right: You should get out of those wet clothes! No matter how you get your exercise 鈥?treadmill, trail, tennis court, or whatever 鈥?don鈥檛 sit around in your sweaty clothes or wet bathing suit when you鈥檙e done. If you can, shower off immediately and change into dry clothes before driving home. If this isn鈥檛 possible, change into dry clothes and wipe down as well as you can. When toweling sweat off your face, always use a clean towel, and blot gently rather than wipe. Vigorous wiping can irritate your skin, driving make-up and sunscreen deeper into the pores. %26lt;/p%26gt;%26lt;p%26gt;Acne %26amp; Exercise - Showering. Again, it鈥檚 best to shower immediately after working out. You may want to use a medicated exfoliant cleanser, but always be gentle with your skin. Scrubbing harder isn鈥檛 going to make you any cleaner, or make your acne go away 鈥?and it may actually irritate existing lesions or promote the development of new ones. If you can%26#039;t shower right away, you can still curb breakouts by wiping down with medicated pads; keep a few in your gym bag just in case. %26lt;/p%26gt;%26lt;p%26gt;So keep up the good work! A healthy exercise program is an integral part of your overall health; and a healthy body is more likely to have healthy skin. Just keep an eye on the various factors that accompany your regimen, and try to remove the acne triggers 鈥?you鈥檒l be on your way to breakout-free workouts.|||i just went to the drugstore and used clean and clear(cream cleanser one )....it freshens ur skin and reduces the oil greatly...cleared up my skin after like 3 times using it.

I've been using some pore cleaner and acne treatment for 1 week and I see bad result.?

Hi, I%26#039;ve been using a pore cleaner and some acne creams that my sis bought to me especially for puberty/oily face acne. So I%26#039;ve used them and I%26#039;m still using those; however it cleaned my pores but my acnes are just getting worse(well not really worse, like over 5 new big acnes). I%26#039;ve saw some typical questions like this and there were answers that %26quot;when you use acne treatments, you first see a bad effect, then a good one.%26quot;

Is that true? Should I keep using those? I mean she bought me them for $50 just for those puberty but I don%26#039;t see effect. Thanks|||Yes its true, you see bad results then good ones. Your supposed to wait about two months to see if it makes any progress.

Trust me I have had acne forever and it always get worse before it gets better.

If you really want your acne to go away see a dermatologist (skin doctor) and they will asses your skin and then give you perscription medecine. Sometimes they even give you antibiotics for acne.

I used to take the vitamin Zinc and it worked really well for my skin.|||I would suggest still using this product for at least two more weeks, if it doesn%26#039;t have any effect, it might be time to see a dermatologist.

Ok has anyone used Neutrogena Wave as a Acne Treatment?? ?

Neutrogena Wave to me is great it helps me to feel confident about myself and helps to banish zits and pimples caused by my acne but it is not that effective. Does anyone know of something other than Proactiv as a great treatment. Proactiv I think won%26#039;t work on my acne because my acne is Inflamatory Acne or some shizz like that. LMFAO!! So um does anyone have some effective home treatments Its Urgent Im sick of being called PImple Face and being used as an example in health class for %26quot;Acne Proned students are Dirty skinned%26quot;

-.- i pray to god that i%26#039;ll find something to cure it.

Oh and thank you for the help if your going to answer my question :)|||Jayna,

I just answered another question like this and as a kid had personal experience with it. I understand the emotional side of it and it is terrible.

I really think your best bet is to spend your money seeing a good dermatologist (skin specialist). They will prescribe what is specific to your case and your body. Our son and daughter also went through this and our best results were from the specialist. They will tell you what to do about diet, cleansing and medication.

I would love to talk to your Health teacher. They are really out dated. You do not have dirty skin. This is caused by all of the hormones you are beginning to secrete. Just a hint about washing. It is best if you wash your hands before you wash your face, use a mild soap/skin cleanser and wash with your hands, not a washcloth that you reuse. Bacteria grow in a damp wash cloth. That is one thing most people don%26#039;t know but is helpful.

I hope you get this taken care of as it is an important problem Good Luck to you! You are not alone.|||Skin ID

Should I get the Zeno Pro Acne Clearing Device or the ThermaClear Heat Enabled Acne Treatment?

Hi, I need some advice on which product to buy. I have mild acne, and it seems like no matter how many times a day and how often I was my face, there is always a few left over, and it drives me crazy lol. I%26#039;m 14, and I%26#039;m going into high school in September, and I want to give off a good first impression. (And possible score myself a girl ;) lol!!!) Well anyway, I read that the ThermaClear device stings pretty bad, but in the long run it seems more cheaper and effective than the Zeno. Normally pain isn%26#039;t a problem with me, as I can take a lot of pain on my body. However, it%26#039;s my face that I%26#039;m worried about when it comes to pain, as I have eczema, so my skin is pretty sensitive. I don%26#039;t want to be in pain with the ThermaClear, but I want my pimples to be gone. Is it really that bad of a %26quot;zap%26quot;? And do you think that my sensitive skin would be better off with Zeno? Please help, thanks!|||Often fewer products are better. People often make their acne worse by using too many products. There is no quick fix for acne. Your doctor may recommend some prescription medication. Keep your face very clean. Drink plenty of water. Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep. Try to reduce the stress in your life. Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer. It is like Proactiv, but without the chemicals that can irritate your skin. It works the same way with the treatment too... three step. It can really clear it fast and remove blemishes too if you reduce the sugar intake so as to reduce the ph of the skin. I have a acess key to get the discounts there if you want it..

I have skin that is prone to acne. But, i stay away from greasy foods as much as i can, i wash my face every morning. And i use a doctor prescribed cream called %26quot;Benzamycin%26quot; on my face at night. You should ask you doctor for that, honestly, it works wonders. I just a simple cream, it doesn%26#039;t burn, or irritate the skin. My skin is the clearest its been in years!

These commercialized products are a waste of money. I highly recommend Benzamycin (Ben-za-my-sin)

How it works: It must be stored in the Fridge. When you put in on your face, you should put it on the acne areas of the face, most commons one are nose crevises, forehead, chin. When you apply the cream, it hardens and drys that area of the grease and while you sleep, it cleans out the grease in between your pours. Thus, removing the acne.|||I completely understand where you are coming from. Throughout the years I%26#039;ve tried everything since around 6th grade as well - now I%26#039;m a freshman in college. I%26#039;ve never heard of the product that you mentioned - but something that I found out worked for me was that I started getting acne facials at spas and it has really helped. Nothing ever helped before - dermatologists told me my last choice was to go on Accutane and birth control at age 12 and that was absolutely out of the question. I%26#039;ve also found Aveda acne treatment products and Elemis products to be very helpful. Good luck! (I know this didn%26#039;t answer your question, but I hope it gave you a few more ideas..)|||i havent heard of it but since you said clean and clear worked try clean and clear control cleanser with the clean and clear advantage oil-free moisturizer. if you have oily skin use both in the morning and at night. if you have combination or dry skin use only at night and apply the moisturizer in the morning. dont use bad makeup! for oily skin use powder. liquid foundation and oily skin just dont work well together. an awesome powder is physicians formula mineral loose powder. it soaks up unwanted oil and helps sensitive and acne prone skin. but the last thing you want to do is put loose powder on dry skin. dry skin needs to be hydrated throughout the day. use physicians formula mineral liquid makeup. it also helps sensitive and acne prone skin. another thing you can do with any kind of skin type is go with all natural cleansers. try zyporex, its all natural and just for acne. it gives you a really clean feeling. natural can be the best thing because it doesnt contain harsh chemicals that can irritate your face rather than help.

Does anyone know a good treatment for acne/spots?

the question says it all, ive tried a few of the big brands but none seem to work|||For a spot treatment, i just put some Clean and Clear Acne Astringent with a q tip right on the pimple, and it makes it less swollen, and dries it out.

Just using these three ingredients for mild acne treatment !?

So i%26#039;ve been using neutragena oil free cleanser, with sylicylic acid, and I just read that using that ingredient can give you a higher percent of having skin cancer, and what-not. Just reading something like that made me worried out of my wits.

I%26#039;ve decided that I should probably just use some cheaper, more organic ingredients, since you don%26#039;t know if you can trust the billion dollar companies.

Anyways, can just using

Cleanser - Baking Soda

Toner - Witch Hazel (with alcohol)

Moisturizer - Honey

A good treatment for stress acne on the jawline?

Proactiv works great. Give it a shot.|||Sometimes acne on the jawline is caused by a food allergy or food sensitivity. Dairy products and products high in sodium can cause skin problems in some folks, as well as many other foods. My face burns whenever i put pimple /acne treatment?

help! it never ever did this unter this morning!!!!

i woke up and washed my face with apricot scrub in the shower than when i put rubbing alchohal on my face which i have been using for like months. then after it burned i washed my face for a minute and put this stuff called %26quot;pimple eraser%26quot; on. then my face burned and stinged more! hours later in the day i just put some %26quot;gentle%26quot; acne stuff on and it still stings! help! it left red rashes where i have pimples! it made me worse :(

please help thank you|||Oh dear! I can think of two reasons this might have happened:

1. Using harsh products frequently on the skin can cause even normal skin to become sensitive over time.

2. If you are a teen or young adult, fluctuations in your hormones can cause your skin to do crazy things, like suddenly become sensitive to products you could use before.

So. If I were you, I would use ONLY a very mild cleanser followed by a sensitive moisturizer morning and night, until the redness and burning goes away. (I recommend Cetaphil.) Then you can go back to treating the acne as well with a spot treatment product. (I recommend Clearasil.)

To treat the stinging and redness in the meantime, try dampening a facecloth with cool water and draping it over your face, and/or applying pure aloe vera gel.

Best wishes!|||That might be sensitive to your skin or an allergic reaction. Switch to something with saying %26quot;For sensitive skin%26quot;. Most of the time it says, %26quot;If rash occurs, stop use immediatley%26quot; Look for this and just make a call to their 1-800 number and then if they advise you to, go to the dermatologist.|||Go to your dermatologist; rashes are never a good product for anything. Will my insurance cover a dermatologist and acne treatment or is it considered cosmetic?

You have to check the insurance. Most would think it is cosmetic and not cover it. It is worth checking though.|||what does that have to do with cancer?|||You would have to check with your insurance provider but I think that if you are reffered to a derm. by your doctor it should be covered. I don%26#039;t think they cover the medication though.|||Yes all insurances will cover a dermatologist and acne treatment some insurances require a referral from your primary care physician- you%26#039;ll have to check with your insurance for that. Cosmetic is only when you are trying to improve your image such as laser treatment or plastic surgery, breast augmentation etc.|||Normally Insurance will not cover for the treatment of Acne or Dermatologist. Both this will be categorised as cosmetic. You may talk to your insurance provider. Try your luck!|||most insurance will cover it if they feel it is medically necessary. If you tell your doctor you just don%26#039;t like something then they may consider it cosmetic. if you have uncontrollable ache or other skin conditions it should not be a problem. It is all in the way the doctor or his staff submits the diagnosis codes to bill the insurance.|||Depends on the insurance company, the plan you are on, *and* the type of treatment.

Most US HMO and PPO insurers will cover dermatologist visits and medications for acne, as it is a very real medical condition.

However, some types of treatments that are experimental, investigational, or non-proven in a scientific setting may be non-covered, and you may find yourself with expensive bills. Such treatments may be infrared or ultraviolet, or dermabrasion. Best to check with your insurer first, to see whether the treatment is covered for your diagnosis.

Good luck!|||It will be covered|||This only depends on your insurance coverage. Most polices will not cover this.|||Acne is a disease, and if not controlled and it gets severe, it can produce pshycological problems. Your insurance should cover this, but first, review your policy|||You have to call your insurance to find out. Sometimes if your Dr writes you a referral the insurance will cover it. If i have acne all the time then if i put this on will it clear it fast? and how fast? also does it work for body acne?|||try the creams for about a week, if NOTHING shows up...then just go to dermatologist|||Dont believe in those silly creams. Go to your doctor and get them to prescribe you Accutane.|||Try it out... If it doesn%26#039;t suite you.. Get perscribed stuff. :)

I am thinking of using Accutane for acne treatment, but is it worth it?

I have been suffering with acne since I was 11, and it%26#039;s gotten worse. I get big painful pimples on my face, and my back. I am now 18, and nothing has worked for me.

I%26#039;ve been told that it has a lot of nasty side effects. Is it worth it?

I had a pharmacist tell me that, since I was recently diagnosed with depression, that this may cause me to become more depressed. Also, would it be safe to take if I am taking other medications, like antidepressants?

How quickly does it work? Is it guaranteed to work? Are the nasty side effects worth it? How much does it cost?|||I am also 18 and I%26#039;ve had pimples since I was 12. I%26#039;ve tried just about everything (antibiotics, Retin-A, benzoyl peroxide and more) and nothing worked for me.

2 months ago I was prescribed Diane-35 which is a birth control pill that is used to treat severe acne. My doctor told me it was basically the second last thing I could try, with Accutane being my last option. Since I%26#039;ve been on Diane-35 I%26#039;ve only had 3 pimples which is a huge improvement for me! And since I just started my results will only get better from here on out. I don%26#039;t know if you would have the same results I have had, but I recommend you try it and see. Diane-35 has an increased risk of blood clots compared to other birth control pills, but my doctor said that instead of being 2 out of 10,000 like most pills it%26#039;s like 4 out of 10,000 which is still really low, less than half a percent.

My doctor thought that Diane-35 had less severe side effects than Accutane, which is why he said I should try it first. I know a few people who have been on Accutane, one did totally fine and no side effects besides chapped lips but the other had a lot of flaky, peely skin, nosebleeds, headaches and sore joints. Both cleared up like 99% of their acne and just get the odd, small pimple when they%26#039;re on their period or whatever.

I%26#039;m not sure about taking Accutane and antidepressants at the same time, but I have heard of some people who weren%26#039;t depressed before Accutane becoming depressed while on it, so I can imagine that if you are already depressed you might be very hesitant to try anything that could make your depression worse.

Accutane isn%26#039;t guaranteed to work. Nothing works for everyone, but a large percentage of patients are cured after one course. Some people have a recurrance and have to do a second or even a third course. There is a percentage of people that receive no benefit from taking Accutane, no matter how many treatments they take.

I recommend talking to your doctor about Diane-35 and see if that is an option for you. I can%26#039;t guarantee it will help you but I know it has really helped me. I feel so much better about myself and I wish I%26#039;d heard about it a long time ago! If it%26#039;s not an option for you, or if you try it and it doesn%26#039;t work then talk to your doctor about if you should be okay using Accutane and antidepressants together. You have to weigh up whether improving you skin is worth a potential worsening of your depression. If you do go on Accutane, make sure you TELL SOMEONE RIGHT AWAY IF YOU ARE HAVING SUICIDAL THOUGHTS! I can%26#039;t stress that enough!

Check out the websites below, they have a lot of information and are easy to understand compared to a lot of the websites I came across.

Sorry this was so long!|||I have taken accutane.

Two different times.

And yes, while I was on it. My lips cracked and sometimes bled. My vision got worse (but i have alreaddyyy super horrid vision, so its hard to tell if it was really from accutane or just my normal eyes getting worse, but worsened vision can be a side affect) My cholesterol increased as well.

And I would do it all again, I wish my doctor would let me do it all again.

Some people I know use accutane and they are cleared for life. They have beautiful skin, and I am so happy for them. And some people like me have uber clear skin while on accutane (and no oil!!!! and my hair was less oily to boot!) and then about four months after I stopped taking it, slowly it returned. The acne on my back wasn%26#039;t isn%26#039;t half as bad, but my face is bad again.

So I got about 9 months of happiness, well for the most part. I was still self conscious because my skin is highly sensitive so it is like permanently damaged from the cream retin a and all the other products I have used over the years.

I don%26#039;t know about the depression, but if your depression is caused from the acne, then you will feel better because the accutane will work. Its like a guarantee, yes. It gets worse in the beginning but it does get better.

If you live in California (and maybe other states) there is an awful program you have to go through. Are you a boy or a girl? I don%26#039;t remember your icon. Anyway you have to go and get a pregnancy test, and then you have to get it done again in a month. (even if you are a virgin). You have to get your blood checked every month and pregnancy test, and you have to answer questions online every month regarding accutane and your two sources of birth control etc. Its a lousy pain, and your doctor has to go on the site as well and plug in your information, so they have to be on top of it as well.

I don%26#039;t remember it being to expensive with insurance.

Ps your doctor will know all about, if it will be okay with antidepressants.

I didn%26#039;t feel anymore or less depressed when I was on accutane.

And I don%26#039;t know how sad you have to be to be considered depressed but i can tell you I probably cry three times a week because I am so depressed about my skin. It makes me feel completely wretched at times, I know I probably sound uber extreme. But there are times when I dont want to go out or do anything and I just want to cry. And I feel like I am too ugly to be loved. I have always wanted kids and so often I tell myself that I am never having kids of my own because I don%26#039;t want to pass down this horrible gene.

I know it sounds extreme, but I am telling you, if your depression is from acne, you may be so happy with accutane.

You will be carefully monitored, and the side affects suck and are very serious, but for me, when I was on accuntane I actually felt like I was living.

I actually went to the beach, I went somewhere without makeup. It was incredible, and I would do it all again in a heart beat.

My doctor doesn%26#039;t think its a good idea to go on it for the third time, but I am back there again, in an awful place.

I hope something works for you. Its the most awful thing in the world, well for me, I guess I am highly self conscious about it not to mention it is physically painful.

PS the birth defect comment below, is if you are pregnant while on accutane, hence the strong defense against pregnancy with the required birth control and second source of birth control, as well as the pregnancy tests every month.

After you are off accutane is recommended that you wait sometime for it to filter out of your blood system before you attempt getting pregnant. I don%26#039;t remember the exact amount of time but its like a couple of months or something. But since your 18, I highly doubt its a concern.
