Can someone recommend good acne treatments?
Also, if you have a bad experience on any let me know
I’m in my late 20’s and never had an acne problem until lately. It’s not severe but I do get the odd breakout that can be quite annoying and noticeable
I’ve tried almost everything that you can get at the pharmacy but they don’t tend to work. (Noxzema, clean and clear, Neutrogena type stuff)
I was about to buy Proactive but then started looking at reviews, and they are mixed. I noticed other products like ClearPores, Exposed, Murad etc. I have read a lot of reviews on them, but they are also mixed.
Can anyone suggest any treatments (that won’t cost $200+ a month)?
Has anyone used the above products, if so, did they work?|||Hi, I am 29 yrs old and have had acne since I was about 24. Not extreme, but enough to disrupt my social life. I tried all the otc stuff, nothing worked. I bought the pricey stuff, same results. Went to an esthetician every month for 2 yrs (lots of $$$) and still no relief. I did buy ProActive and the only thing it did was make me want to take sandpaper to my face because it itched so much and it bleached my eyebrows.
There are only 2 things that ever helped me with my acne. The first one was the birth control pill (I used Marvelon). That works really well and doesn%26#039;t have many side effects for most women. Unfortunately for me it causes me to have weekly debilitating migraine attacks so no go. Another disadvantage is that you have to keep taking it. There is no end to the %26quot;treatment%26quot; and if you do stop, the acne comes back. Or at least mine did.
The second thing was Accutane. I just finished my 6 month treatment yesterday and my face is completely clear. It did take a long time to see results and initially it got 10 times worse, but on the long run it worked for me.
But Accutane is a very potent drug that can have many bad side effects, including depression, major joint pain, liver damage, fetal malformation if you become pregnant, weight loss or gain (for me it was gain unfortunately) and severely dry lips, skin and eyes. Of course these all go away when you stop the treatment, or are supposed to anyway. There is a lot of info about it online. Try Googling it.
Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you.|||I tried Proactive and got immediate results! My diet was awful too with cookies and chips. After watching my diet more carefully and using Proactive my skin cleared up .
I did have some drying with Proactive but I cut back on the cleansing and that stopped.|||You should go to a MD. This could be something more. I don%26#039;t recommend products for people in their 20s who never had an acne problem before and now have one.|||Have you considered the natural acne cure discussed below. It is worth a look.|||i%26#039;m in my early teens and use proactive, clean %26amp; clear, and neutrogena. they all work...|||I started getting acne in my early 30%26#039;s. Ordered Pro-Active and it actually made my skin worse. Ended up going to the dermatologist, that was the best thing. If you have insurance, it%26#039;ll more than likely cover the costs of your visits....|||I suggest you stay well away from the drugs and try natural treatements.
Kefir a, God given, pro-biotic to fix skin problems and many many more ailments http://www.kefir.org/kefir_manual.htm. For very detailed information visit http://users.chariot.net.au/~dna/kefirpage.html You could call it natures Roaccutine. A testimonial http://messageboards.makemeheal.com/viewtopic.php?p=501016 Some people also use Baking Soda which use mix with water and then apply to the effected area for 3 or so minutes, some leave it on longer, then wash off. I%26#039;d also visit this persons youtube videos on acne http://www.youtube.com/user/highonhealth In my humble opinion Kefir is the best though. Make sure you look for the authentic Caucasian Kefir culture grain, which multiply in milk, for best results, and not the commercial %26quot;Kefir%26quot; which don%26#039;t multiply because they have been manipulated . From Barry Hilton who has been using Kefir for many years. Acne and Excema Treatment: Drink half a litre daily; moreover, rub some (36/48 hrs fermentated Kefir Cultured Milk) into the affected areas. LEAVE CRUST (which forms) dry and do not remove at night. Clean off the following morning. Even some cases of severe excema heals after 4 days and you will be amazed how quickly it will cure Acne. (18/24 hrs fermented Kefir Culture Milk).
If you can%26#039;t get your Kefir right away try this: Some people have had success with this combo, they mix some Baking Soda with a little water to make it flow and rub it gently over the effected area, they leave it on for about 3 minutes (some people leave it on up to an hour) before they wash it off with water. Then they get one tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar in half a glass of water and rub that over the effected area with a cotton bud, then they finish by applying some Extra Virgin Olive Oil.|||Clearasil- you see very noticeable results (aka no more acne) in 5 or 6 days!
P.S. One tube of Clearasil lasts a whole month or more for me, so it%26#039;s not expensive.|||There are many different types of acne treatment that people can use.
