Advice for Roaccutane patient (acne treatment)?

I am quarter way through my treatmant at the minute. On very high dose but it is going really well so far. (crossed fingers).

I just wanted to ask if anyone has advice on the best products to handle the really dry flaking skin, and cracked lips.

I am coping with it at the minute but I will be on the treatment for a long while and when the weather gets colder I expect my skin will start to really suffer. Also a friend of mine experienced sore and bleeding nostrils. Any advice about that.

Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks|||No don%26#039;t use Vaseline, Vaseline contains petroleum..which in the long run dries your skin...and yes Dermatologists did advise patients to use Vaseline..TWENTY YEARS AGO.

Just use a gentle lotion, something not too greasy..Creams will generally make your skin too oily, thus creating a good breading ground for bacteria

Try Dermalogica%26#039;s products or Dr Hauska...these products saved my skin.|||I had a course of high dose roaccutane, and the only thing that helped my lips and nose was Carmex (comes in a yellow round pot or tube, normally for coldsores). Really really good stuff, slightly pricier than most ordinary lip balms (around 拢2.99 a pot) but such a relief when it goes on it%26#039;s so worth it. Boots/pharmacies stock it.|||A good cream is E45 moisturising lotion. It is not too expensive and is really effective. My son was given Roaccutanne and this is what I bought for his dry skin. For the sore nostrils you could try Vaseline (petroleum jelly), although I don%26#039;t remember my son having this problem.

Stick with the treatment Elaine, it makes such a difference. When you get fed up with the little problems that you may come across during the treatment, just keep in mind the final outcome. It will all be worthwhile.

Kind Regards. x|||Most of the dermatology consultants advise using simple Vaseline.|||elizabeth arden 8 hour cream - costly but lasts forever.
